Support & setup

A good place to get started.

Set up Oribula, check compatibility, and find help when you need it.

Set up your Oribula.

The Oribula app takes you from download to your first filed document. Add connected services and more advanced workflows when you need them.

Install the app

  1. Open the Oribula disk image and drag Oribula to Applications.
  2. Open Oribula and enter your license key.
  3. Choose where your Oribula folder lives: your home folder, iCloud Drive, or another folder.
  4. Oribula builds your folders and gives them their icons. Drag them to Finder’s sidebar to keep them close.

Connect Claude Cowork

  1. Choose Claude on the assistant screen.
  2. Copy each settings card into Claude with its Copy button.
  3. Add the core skills to Claude from the folder Oribula opens for you.
  4. Connect your Oribula folder in Claude Cowork, then file your first document and say “Welcome.”

Connect ChatGPT Work

ChatGPT Work support is in preview at launch. Choose ChatGPT on the assistant screen and follow the same steps; some account settings differ from Claude’s.

Finish with a health check

The app runs Oribula’s health checks before you start and shows what it found. Run them again anytime from the Summary or Settings › Health.

Your nine core skills

Say the name below to use the corresponding skill in your configured assistant.

Say thisWhat it does
WelcomeGuides your first session: personalize the install, learn the routing decision, file one real document, and apply your settings.
UpdatePlans an install update and reconciles assistant-account skills, settings, and scheduled tasks without touching your content.
CheckpointCaptures decisions, discoveries, and context as one checkpoint. Produces text; never writes a file.
ResumeReviews a saved or pasted checkpoint on your Mac and files useful knowledge, asking before creating a file or overwriting.
Wrap UpProposes durable corrections, decisions, and preferences for approval; puts unfinished work in the project’s Handoff.md. Say “Where were we” to resume.
VoiceBuilds a Writing Voice profile from your samples, with observations backed by quotes.
NameCreates clean Title Case names for human-browsed files, folders, tasks, projects, events, and notes.
Asset NamesCreates lowercase, category-first names for assets referenced by code or a CMS.
Photo NamesCreates sortable photo names using date, subject, context, and sequence, with labels for scans and restoration work.

Check your setup.

Oribula is designed for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work. Mac is the only supported platform at this time.

RequirementWhat you need
ComputerA Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26 Tahoe or later. Intel Macs aren’t supported.
AI assistantClaude Cowork, or ChatGPT Work (preview)
Folder accessPermission for your assistant to work with your local Oribula folder
Knowledge SynciCloud Drive turned on, or any other folder you choose
Connected sourcesSupported connectors, plugins, or MCP servers, with the necessary account access and permissions
Mobile useYour Knowledge Sync copy, or files uploaded to a compatible AI project; local processing stays on Mac

AI services and connected apps may require separate subscriptions. Features and limits vary by provider and account.

Local processing and cloud context

Your Mac is where Oribula processes files and updates knowledge. Knowledge Sync publishes a one-way copy of your knowledge to iCloud Drive or a folder you choose, on its own, even with the app closed; anything changed in the copy is replaced on the next sync.

Cloud AI projects read the files you upload. Those uploads don’t refresh when your knowledge changes: upload again from your Knowledge Sync folder. Storing files in the cloud doesn’t establish support for running Oribula on another operating system or editing the same knowledge base on several devices at once.

Save what matters. Bring it back.

Checkpoint

Save what matters. Checkpoint captures decisions, discoveries, and context as one checkpoint with Title, Insight, Source, Date, and Area. It produces text and never writes a file; copy or save the output to bring it back to your Mac.

Resume

Bring it back. Resume reviews a saved or pasted checkpoint on your Mac and files what is still useful into the right Knowledge file. It asks before creating a file or overwriting.

Your desktop-to-mobile loop

  1. Use your Knowledge Sync copy, or upload the knowledge a conversation needs to a compatible AI project.
  2. Continue the conversation on mobile with that context available.
  3. Use the Checkpoint instructions to capture useful outcomes, then save or copy the output.
  4. Back on your Mac, provide that checkpoint to Resume and review proposed updates.

Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What is Oribula?

Oribula is a Mac app and personal knowledge system designed for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work. The app sets up and looks after a folder of instructions, skills, and workflows that turn documents and other source material into organized knowledge your AI can use.

Can I use Oribula as a second brain?

Yes. Oribula helps you collect useful information, organize it by subject, and reuse it in future work. Its Markdown knowledge files are readable by both you and your assistant, with summaries and links to their sources.

How does Oribula use the PARA method?

The PARA method organizes information into Projects, Areas, Resources, and Archives. Oribula uses that structure for your files, adds an inbox for incoming material, and provides a knowledge layer for your AI.

Which AI assistants and computers does it support?

Oribula runs on Macs with Apple silicon and macOS 26 Tahoe or later. It’s designed for Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work; ChatGPT Work support is in preview at launch, and setup and capabilities vary by assistant. See the compatibility requirements.

Does Oribula work on Windows?

Windows support is not currently included. Storing Markdown files in a cloud drive does not extend support for Oribula’s processing workflows to Windows.

Do I need a separate AI subscription?

Oribula is a $49 one-time perpetual license, with 12 months of updates included and optional $19/year updates thereafter. You’ll need your own compatible AI account; your chosen assistant and connected services may require separate paid plans.

The Oribula app

What does the app do?

It sets up your Oribula folder, runs its health checks, repairs missing folders and folder icons, updates Oribula, and keeps your Knowledge Sync copy current. The main window shows each Oribula folder with its health, how much knowledge it holds, and whether an update is waiting.

Do I need the app open?

No. Knowledge Sync keeps working with the app closed. Oribula can open at login and wait in the menu bar.

Can I free up space on my Mac?

Yes. Optimize Storage moves archive folders you haven’t opened for a while to an external drive. Every file is copied and checked first; the originals move to the Trash only when you confirm. Connect the drive to open a moved file, or bring a folder back with Bring Back.

Can I move my Oribula to another Mac?

Export Profile saves your knowledge, settings, and personal setup to a single file, with an optional password. Restore it into a fresh Oribula on this Mac or another. It doesn’t include your Projects, Areas, Resources, or Archive, so keep your normal backups too.

Knowledge and portability

Can I start with my existing documents?

Yes. Add a few documents to the inbox and build gradually. The workflow preserves your originals and creates reusable knowledge from their contents.

Can Oribula work with information from connected apps?

With supported connectors, plugins, or MCP servers, your assistant can read information from connected services and distill useful knowledge into Oribula. Available sources depend on your assistant, account, and permissions.

Can I use my knowledge on mobile?

Yes. Knowledge Sync keeps a copy of your knowledge in iCloud Drive, where you can read it on your phone or upload it to a compatible Claude or ChatGPT project. Processing files and incorporating returned insights into Oribula remain desktop workflows on Mac.

What do Checkpoint and Resume do?

Checkpoint produces a text checkpoint of useful decisions, discoveries, and context; it never writes a file. Resume reviews that checkpoint on your Mac and files useful knowledge, asking before creating a file or overwriting. See the Checkpoint and Resume workflow.

Can I store my knowledge in Google Drive, iCloud Drive, or Dropbox?

Yes. Oribula produces ordinary Markdown files. Knowledge Sync publishes a copy to iCloud Drive by default, or to any folder you choose, such as one your cloud drive syncs. Cloud storage and AI project uploads are separate: updating your knowledge does not refresh a copy previously uploaded to an AI project.

Is Oribula a self-learning knowledge base?

Oribula’s knowledge base grows through document processing, captured insights, and reviewed updates. It does not train an AI model or automatically learn from everything you do.

Where do my files live, and who can access them?

Your files live in the Oribula folder you choose on your Mac. Knowledge Sync’s copy and other cloud storage follow that service’s access settings, and AI processing follows your assistant provider’s policies and permissions.

Purchases and support

What does my purchase include?

You get the Oribula Mac app, the PARA folder structure, operating instructions, setup guides, nine core skills: Welcome, Update, Checkpoint, Resume, Wrap Up, Voice, Name, Asset Names, and Photo Names, knowledge workflows, and system health checks. See the current offer.

Can I use Oribula on multiple computers?

Yes. One license is for one person, and you can use Oribula on all the Macs you use, for personal or work purposes. Each person in a team or company needs their own license. To bring your setup to another Mac, use Export Profile and Restore. See the Terms & License.

Are updates included?

Your $49 one-time purchase includes a perpetual license and the first 12 months of updates. After that, updates are optional at $19/year. Keep using your purchased version without renewing. Resume updates for $19 without paying for missed years. Oribula checks for updates itself. Updating never touches your Projects, Areas, or Archive.

What support is included?

Email support for installing, setting up, and using Oribula on supported setups. We aim to reply promptly but can’t promise a response time. Support doesn’t cover third-party AI services, connected apps, or accounts, or changes you’ve made to Oribula’s instructions and workflows. For help, contact us.

What is the refund policy?

You can get a full refund for any reason within 14 days of purchase. Email us with your order reference, and we’ll refund you through Lemon Squeezy and deactivate your license. Read the Refund Policy.

A little help getting unstuck.

My assistant cannot see my files.

Check that you selected the correct local folder and granted the required access. A file uploaded to a cloud project is a separate copy, not access to the Oribula folder on your Mac.

A health check needs attention.

Open the folder from the Summary to see what the check found and what to do about it. Settings › Repair recreates missing folders and folder icons without changing your files.

I moved or renamed my Oribula folder.

Oribula follows a folder moved on the same disk. If it can’t find one, its card says so: choose Locate to point Oribula at it again.

My AI project has older information.

Upload the relevant files again from your Knowledge Sync folder. Knowledge Sync and AI project uploads are separate processes.

A connector cannot find my information.

Check the connected account and its permissions. Ask the assistant which source it searched, what it searched for, and whether access failed or the search returned no results.

Processing stopped for approval.

New knowledge files and uncertain changes can require review. Read the proposed actions and approve or correct them before continuing.
