Privacy Policy

Effective date: [TODO: date]

This policy explains how Oribula handles information associated with our website, purchases, and support. Contact us at oribula.ai@gmail.com.

Information covered by this policy

This policy covers oribula.com, purchases of Oribula, support by email, and the update check in the Oribula app.

Our website is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. It has no accounts or sign-up forms, and we don’t run a newsletter. It loads its fonts and images from our own domain. It uses two third-party scripts: Google Analytics 4, described below, and, on the home page, Lemon Squeezy’s checkout script, which opens the checkout over the page when you choose Buy Oribula. Purchases are completed through Lemon Squeezy, and support email is handled through Google’s Gmail.

When you visit, Cloudflare receives the technical information any web request carries, such as your IP address, browser, and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare processes this under its own Privacy Policy.

Information you provide

When you contact support, we receive the information you send, such as your email address, order reference, and description of an issue. Please avoid sending private source documents or credentials.

When the home page loads Lemon Squeezy’s checkout script, Lemon Squeezy receives the technical information any web request carries, such as your IP address and browser. The script sets no cookies on our website. The checkout itself runs on Lemon Squeezy’s site, which may use its own cookies under its Privacy Policy.

When you buy Oribula, Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record: it takes your payment, handles sales tax, and sends your receipt and license key. Your card or other payment details go to Lemon Squeezy and its payment processors, not to us. We receive the order information Lemon Squeezy shares with sellers, such as your name, email address, country, what you bought, and your license key, and we use it to deliver your purchase, provide updates, and answer support requests.

Website analytics and cookies

The website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use it: which pages they visit, how they arrived, and how they move through the site. Analytics collects information such as the pages you view, the site that referred you, your approximate location (country, region, and city, derived from your IP address), your device, browser, operating system, screen size and language, and interactions such as scrolling and clicks on links. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We don’t use it to identify you, and we don’t send it your name, email address, or other personal details.

When you open the checkout on the home page, Lemon Squeezy’s checkout script also reports checkout steps to Google Analytics, such as viewing your cart, adding payment information, and completing a purchase. These follow the same cookie choice as the rest of the website.

We use Google Consent Mode, so analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner. Until you choose, and if you decline, Google Analytics receives limited measurements without cookies or identifiers. Advertising features are off, and nothing on the website is used for advertising.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets these cookies, each for up to two years:

  • _ga, a random identifier that tells one visitor’s visits apart.
  • _ga_MMLM3LCZLG, which keeps track of the current visit.

The website also stores your cookie choice on your device, under oribula-analytics-consent, so it can remember it. While the website is in private preview, entering the preview password stores a value under oribula-gate in your browser, so you aren’t asked again until you clear your browser’s site data.

You can change your choice anytime from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Declining removes the analytics cookies already set. Google’s partner sites page explains how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and Google offers an opt-out browser add-on for Google Analytics.

Your Oribula files

The Oribula folder lives where you place it on your Mac. AI services, connected apps, and cloud drives you choose can process information under their own policies and permissions. Knowledge Sync copies your knowledge to iCloud Drive or another folder you choose; Apple’s or that service’s terms apply to the copy.

The Oribula app sends no analytics or telemetry. To check for updates, it requests the update feed from oribula.com, and like any web request this shares your IP address and the app’s name and version. [TODO: confirm what the app sends to Lemon Squeezy when you enter your license key, and re-verify both statements against the shipping app before publication.]

How information is used and shared

We use information to:

  • Run the website, deliver it reliably, and keep it secure, which is in our legitimate interest in operating it.
  • Understand how the website is used and improve it, with your consent where analytics cookies are involved.
  • Complete your purchase, deliver your license and updates, and provide support, which is needed to fulfill our agreement with you.
  • Keep records that tax and accounting laws require.

We share information only with the service providers that help us do these things: Cloudflare for hosting and security, Google for analytics and email, and Lemon Squeezy for checkout, payments, tax, and licenses. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect our rights and users. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising.

Lemon Squeezy describes its processing in its Privacy Policy, and Google in its Privacy Policy. Instagram and YouTube, which the website links to, have their own policies.

These providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, they rely on recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

Retention and security

We keep information only as long as we need it:

  • Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months, a period that restarts when a returning visitor is active.
  • Support email is kept while we’re helping you and for as long as it’s useful for answering related questions, then deleted.
  • Order records are kept for as long as you use your license and receive updates, and for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
  • Your cookie choice stays on your device until you clear your browser’s site data.

The website is served only over HTTPS, and access to support email and order records is limited to the people who run Oribula. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take care to protect the information we hold.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive it in a portable format, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, such as for analytics cookies, you can withdraw it anytime from Cookie settings.

To make a request, email oribula.ai@gmail.com. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address connected to it, and we respond within one month. You won’t be treated differently for exercising these rights. If you’re in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Oribula isn’t directed to children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes and contact

When we change this policy, we’ll update it on this page and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we’ll also post a notice on the website before it takes effect.
